Eurofins Food Testing Australia introduces Food Sentinel, an innovative rapid end-to-end solution for Pathogen Detection, Identification, Sequencing, Monitoring and Tracking

Eurofins Food Testing Australia are committed to improving customer value and consumer protection through integrating rapid high technology analysis with seamless digital solutions.

Food Sentinel is a unique solution that combines rapid screening, identification, and sequencing to provide the Food industry with the ability to detect, identify, map and track transient and resident Pathogens across their supply chain.

Food Sentinel brings together three bespoke technologies, that can be used by Food Manufacturers and Distributors as part of their Quality and Environmental Management programs:

  1. PathoDetect - RtPCR and Molecular Technology allowing manufacturers to screen pathogens in less than 24 hours, and confirm them in less than 48 hours in products and environmental samples. This compares to minimum 3 days screening and 4 days confirmation via traditional methods.
  2. PathoGene - Further identification of positives by high-throughput 16S rRNA sequencing of amplicons targeting the entire bacterial community and the active bacterial fraction present in these samples.
  3. PathoTracker - Investigating sources of contamination through Whole Genome Sequencing of Pathogens, this gives the highest resolution for an individual organism and results compared to a reference strain.

All services can be accessed through a secure portal and results presented via a user friendly, customer specific factory floor plan or production line style layout, while enabling the customer to build a customised data library over time.

FoodSentinel is another demonstration of Eurofins commitment to bring Best in Class, Technology led, cost effective scientific solutions to our Food customers. We believe in Food Safety, and this investment is a further example of Eurofins customer centric approach and the ethos of our teams of scientists who are always ready to challenge the status quo, and chase and deliver more accuracy, high quality data and shorter Turn-Around-Times.
