The value of agricultural production from Victoria is greater than any other Australian state and Horsham, about three hundred kilometres north west of Melbourne, lies at the heart of the Wimmera region known for its wheat and wool production.

Geography and Climate
Horsham is a moderately sized inland city on the Wimmera River floodplain. The growing season, mainly of non-irrigated crops, is from May to October with harvest in November and December.
The climate is semi-arid, characterised by mild and wet winters and hot dry summers.
