Antibiotic Potency Test / Bioassay
Eurofins | ams is able to perform antibiotic potency testing by the bioassay method. Antibiotic potency is estimated by comparing the inhibition of growth of sensitive micro-organisms produced by known concentrations of the antibiotic being examined against a reference standard substance. The test is performed on raw materials and finished products to confirm the antibiotic activity meets specifications.
PRINCIPLE OF TEST:
All test methods are based on the European and British Pharmacopeia: Biological assay of antibiotics, BP Appendix XIV A (Ph. Eur. method 2.7.2)
This is a large-plate format procedure where test and standard preparations are loaded into wells in a randomized latin square arrangement before incubation and reading the zones of inhibition.
List of Antimicrobials available are as shown below.
We can also perform Antimicrobial Activity Tests such as those shown below.
Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) Test
Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) Test
Minimum Kill Concentration ( MKC) Test
Zone of Inhibition (ZOI) Test
