Imtiaz Ahmed B.Sc.(Hons.), M.Phil. MASM is the Sterile Products Testing Manager at Eurofins | ams. He grew up in rural Pakistan and attended the University of Agriculture in Faisalabad where he majored in Food Technology. He then completed a Master’s Degree in Microbiology at Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad.
After this he worked in the Public Service for 12 years before migrating to Australia in 2003. After arriving in Australia, Imtiaz worked for a Multinational Pharmaceutical company and subsequently spent 7 years with another major Testing Laboratory, eventually becoming their Science Centre Manager looking after non-routine and project work.
In 2011 he joined Eurofins | ams (known as ams Laboratories then) as Manager for Sterile Products Testing and implemented swift changes to the department. With his strong technical background and work experience, he contributed positively by optimizing various work processes in his department. As a result, he was able to improve work efficiency and it translated to better and faster service to our customers.
As the Department Manager, he is responsible for scheduling and supervising (in accordance to Australian Standards) the testing of sterile products for tests of/for sterility, endotoxin detection, sub visible particle counting, container closure studies, aseptic process studies, disinfectant testing, virology, cytotoxicity testing, and microbiological assays of antibiotics.. He develops, writes and maintains the department’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and special project protocols. He also ensures that Clients are immediately advised of Out of Specification (OOS) test results. He evaluates test results, prepares and signs off on Client Reports.
With his strong technical background and his experience in working with the regulatory authorities, he is an asset in providing technical consulting services to customers.
